The Story of Aadil Khan - Cric 11 Expert

Imagine having built your own brand, a passive income amount to boast, a community of over 2 lakh people and all of this at the age of just 19. Aadil Khan comes from a modest and humble background in the village of Manoharpur, near Jaipur. Currently, he owns the YouTube Channel CRIC 11 EXPERT [IKM] and is one of the fastest growing fantasy sports channels in India with 158K subscribers on YouTube. We managed to get some time from him in a candid chat with FanBlaze.

Let’s see what the emerging star had to share.

Q: Isn’t it mind-boggling to you that at such a young age, you’ve managed to build your own brand?

A: (Chuckles) Well, what can I say! I guess it’s all God’s plan somewhat and of course the hard work and research that has helped me reach where I am today. I like to keep my head down and put in the work relentlessly because I come from a modest background here in Manoharpur. If you look around, it’s not exactly a village but also not a city in the right sense, have played a lot of cricket here so I really like to keep things modest and humble so that it doesn’t get to my head so much and defocus from what I can do so well.

Q: So, what was your ‘Eureka’ moment that okay this is what I must do and this is what my life’s gonna be about?

A: So, by the time I turned 18 I finally found myself eligible to play fantasy sports because I had been itching to play it for a long time. When I began my journey of fantasy cricket, I quickly found out that the entire game is about researching and strategizing. Not only is playing the big match important but if you ace your knowledge game for smaller matches, you have absolutely no idea what you can do and how much you can win. The moment I realized the latter, my life changed forever and then there were people from the community who saw me win and they started asking for teams. That’s when I thought, let’s start a YouTube channel.

Q: Was there a time in this duration when you felt extremely low or was there a phase of failure? How did you handle it?

A: Not exactly a failure but yes, the 1st channel that I started had more than 1,54,000 subscribers but then there were a series of copyright strikes on the channel. This later led to the channel being shut down. I was literally shattered because we became the fastest growing channel on YouTube and then this happened out of nowhere. But again, you’ve got to pick yourself up because let’s face it, you know you’re good at it. That’s when I gathered myself, restarted and today we are at 158K back on YouTube: that is some comeback, I guess!

Q: Indeed! And I’m pretty sure there was some level of resistance from the family?

A: Yes, I mean parents especially were not onboard with this idea, my father is a businessman, we have our very own shop here and he was more concerned about my studies then. But slowly and steadily when results started coming in and the money came, my mother was really happy and she started supporting. With time, I feel ultimately your parents and family want you to be happy and safe and I have always felt that I have a special skill and this can help a lot of people since the industry is huge and still has a lot of scope to grow further. Since the time when I started my journey, I was very clear I have to make it big in life and this is going to be my tool to fame, money and providing value to cricket lovers.

Q: How did BalleBaazi grab your attention?

A: I think there was no other fantasy sports company at the time which had so many fantasy formats. BalleBaazi has Batting Fantasy, Bowling Fantasy, Reverse and Innings which makes it really engaging and helps you to multiply your income from the same game. Plus, with rewards coming up there’s a lot more excitement to play because even when you lose you know you’re going to get something rewarding. It’s fun to level up, scratch and win so many rewards. That is one thing which is very important for any fantasy cricket app to have: a huge prize pool and more than one reason to keep playing and sticking to the game.

Q: So, what are Aadil’s plans for the future?

A: Huge plans actually! I really want the people from areas like Manoharpur to play at the highest level or create some form of a league. Since, I have been promoting so many fantasy sports apps and have been a face of so many brands so one day I would love to have them sponsor such an event. An event which will give exposure to the unexplored regions of India and bring raw talent into the picture. Just like the IPL, there would be a platform for such regions to compete and maybe attract new income sources.

Q: Beautiful thought. Any tips you’d like to share for our fantasy cricket enthusiasts?

A: One of my biggest learnings has been (like I said before), participating in small matches. I mean there was an ECS T10 match that changed my life and similarly such matches come with a huge amount of opportunities for fantasy cricket players because not a lot of people do their research in such matches and that’s where you can get your edge. Join more and more cash leagues in such matches because if the investment is huge, the rewards and the winnings will come in multifolds. I really feel this is one area which hasn’t been explored that much by fantasy cricket players considering the potential it has because trust me, it’s a goldmine!
