But this IPL there have been some shocking releases by the franchises.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul was the captain of Punjab Kings for the last 2 IPL seasons has not been retained by the franchise. “Obviously we wanted to retain him, that is one of the reasons we chose him as captain two years back. But he decided to go into the auction. We respect that, we honour his decision. It’s the player’s prerogative.” said Anil Kumble, the director of cricket operations of PBKS. It is also speculated that KL is being approached by the new Lucknow Franchise.

David Warner

Australian opener David Warner has not been retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Warner had strained relationship with the franchise which was visible to the public. Warner said, “They won’t, but I can’t do anything about that.” about his non-retention.

Faf du Plessis

In the last IPL South African Faf du Plessis was the second-highest run-scorer with 633 runs. It is quite surprising that he has not been retained by CSK.

“Haha, that’s not my decision. I also hope I get back there,” wrote Du Plessis in reply after a fan urged him to stay with CSK for the next season.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal was a part of RCB since 2014. Chahal was the most promising bowler of RCB but this IPL he has not been retained by the franchise.

“Why not Chahal? He is a very clever bowler and considering his seniority (as well) in the team, he could be a good option. He is performing well and his bonding with the players is also great. He has been Kohli’s attacking bowler on several occasions and he has always proved his skipper right by delivering at crucial junctures. His appointment as RCB skipper could help the side as it would bring a bowler-centric perspective,” said Randhir.

Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer had been injured for quite some time. England’s medical team had managed his injury throughout the tour. He has been a part of the Rajasthan Royals. Last IPL Archer picket 20 wickets.
