Ahmedabad witnessed a one-sided victory for India against the West Indies. The toss was won by Indian Captain Rohit Sharma and he put the Windies to bat first. Pollard & co. seemed to miss the trick right from the outset as they succumbed to some brilliant spin bowling by the likes of Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Washi bagged 3 while Chahal took 4 wickets reaching a milestone of 100+ ODI wickets. West Indies got reduced to 176 all out with only Jason Holder reaching a 50+ score. India started beautifully with Rohit Sharmat taking charge who stormed 60 off 51 deliveries before being plumbed in front by Alzarri Joseph. In the same over, after being taken down for 2 boundaries Virat mistimes a pull to be caught in the deep for just 8.
On the other hand opener Ishan Kishan went for 26 and an unlucky Pant ran himself out on 11. It was Suryakumar Yadav and debutant Deepak Hooda who held their nerves and played sensible cricket in order to ensure India a 6-wicket win in the 1st ODI.
India lead the series 1-0 and Yuzvendra Chahal won the man of the match award for his 4-fer.
